Rapper A$AP Rocky has expressed frustration over “leaks and sample clearances” delaying the release of his new music. The much-anticipated fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb, which was originally set to be released at the end of August, has been postponed. A$AP Rocky apologized for the delay, stating that he is dedicated to creating the best album possible, emphasizing that it has been “six years” in the making. Despite the setback, the artist has continued to perform at festivals and tours following his 2018 release Testing. Speculation surrounding his new album suggests collaborations with J.Cole, Busta Rhymes, and Rihanna, with whom he shares two children. This isn’t the first time leaks have affected A$AP Rocky’s work. In a recent interview with Billboard, he revealed that leaks have disrupted the release of his music multiple times. A$AP Rocky also mentioned “sample clearances, external,” alluding to the complexity of obtaining permission to use copyrighted music in his songs.
